The Zufflekin Cottage

At the base of the tallest Hempshayla tree sits a cozy cottage with warm wood walls, round ceilings, soft beds, and room for questions at the end of the day. It is where hard days can end safely, and tomorrow can wait until morning.

Sweet fruit and wide branches

Hempshayla Grove

Hempshayla trees bear sweet fruit in many colors. Their branches make shelter, their fallen fruit feeds small neighbors, and their groves keep growing wherever a seed finds good ground.

Meet the family

The Zufflekin Family

Zach Zufflekin

Zach

Curious to the very edges of bedtime.

Zach wonders about almost everything. His questions are never just for trouble, even when they lead him somewhere unexpected.

Sarah Zufflekin

Sarah

Big sister, yellow bow, and a knowing smile.

Sarah remembers what it feels like to be little. She knows a few things Zach does not yet know, and she loves him fiercely anyway.

Mama Zufflekin

Mama

Warmth, attention, and a steady place to land.

Mama does not always get it right immediately. But she stays with what matters, and she knows when a child needs to hear the full name of the thing that hurts.

Father Zufflekin

Father

Kind, wise, and never in a hurry to answer.

Father listens before he answers. When Zach has a question too big for bedtime, Father knows how to make room for it.

A small neighbor

The Spotted Seed Spreader

Children sometimes call it a Fruit Thief, but it is not stealing anything at all. The Spotted Seed Spreader eats fallen fruit and cracked seeds, then helps Hempshayla trees find new places to grow. It is a little wobbly, a little overlooked, and much more important than it first appears.

The Promise of Zolliboo

“Nobody has to face the hard things alone.”

Zolliboo does not flinch from truth. There are cold days, hurt feelings, and mistakes. But someone always comes, and nobody who should help makes things worse.

The Season in Yumbledon

Yellowhorns are open, and the Hempshayla fruit is sweet.
